How to show post's excerpt in Facebook description

    I would like to share a post from my website but it seems to show the first few sentences of my post which includes the top navigation so the first thing you’ll read is “view all previous” which isn’t right.

    It seems such a simple thing but I just can’t work it out – help!

  • Facebook uses the open graph protocol to determine what picture to show, what excerpt to use, etc. Open graph tags which are simply additional meta tags. A plugin like this one will automatically add them to your posts.

    It still grabs the first few sentences from my content and not my excerpt.

    It seems any plugin I’m using with custom settings just isn’t working.

    I’m really stuck!

    Oh darn the answer was staring me right in the face!

    So… I haven’t set a meta description to any of my posts yet. I’m using SEO by Yoast to do this.
