How to Show ” Read More ” or “Read Full Story”

Hello Guys , Can any one tell me that if i Write a Long post Then How i Can show only Top 6 lines and then a Link to Read Full Post At Front Page .
As i saw too many sites running wordpress has same option but i am Lost is this has something with Theme ? please help me.
