How to show "sidebar" with widgets?

  • Hi,

    I’ve not had a need for the “widgets” in the sidebar yet on my new theme, but I’m trying to create it now. Can someone point me in the right direction? I’ve managed to “nick” some parts from stuff I’ve read online, and also existing themes – but I just can’t get it to show :/

  • Not really sure what you are asking here. Are you asking how to widgetize your sidebar (i.e. allow your sidebar to accept widgets) or how to add widgets to your site?

    Exactly. I would like to add Widgets to my sidebar. At the moments its very simple plain HTML:

    <div id="sidebar">
   social media sprite buttons
  ..adsense code
</div>

    ..but I have a few widgets I would like to use on the sidebar
