    Hello,
first of all I want to thank the developers for this remarkable plug-in. You made my life so much easier!
Then, straight to my question: when a user sets its preference and accept the privacy policy, then the preference bar just disappears. What if the user changes its mind? For now I placed a “Preferences” button in the footer, using the shortcode provided, but I think that it would be so much better if there was an option to just shrink the bar after acceptance.
That’s pretty much the same behaviour of other “cookie bar” plug-ins (i.e Cookie law info and cookie consent, to name but a few). In these cases the bar is reduced to a small sticky label or button that stays always visible.
    Thanks in advance.

  • There’s actually a shortcode you can put on your site. I put it on the top of the Cookie and Privacy Policy page, that lets people know they can review and update their preferences.

    Here’s the shortcode:

    [gdpr_preferences text=”Privacy Preferences”]

Hello @emmageddon. Yes, that’s the shortcode I used. But I see it more as a workaround. I think a sticky element would be more elegant and would provide a better user experience.
I’m sure it can be achieved by adding some HTML + CSS or jQuery to my site, but I was wondering if someone had already done something similar or if this could be included as an option in the plug-in dashboard.

    Ah, no problem @kikaweb.

I do agree, it would be good to see the bar reduced to a non-intrusive size once preferences have been saved and then can be opened much more easily if preference changes are needed to be made by the individual users.

I’d like this too, but since I’m dealing with thousands of different designs it get’s really hard to determine how to style it.

For instance, some sites could have a few sticky things floating around already. Back to top buttons, Live chat and so on.

I think the easiest thing would be to add the shortcode or function gdpr_preferences( 'button_text' ) and then style it to be sticky. That way users that don’t need it are happy and users that want it are also happy. ??
