I’m tired of the spam and can’t understand the instructions for anti-spam plug-ins, or they take too much time to understand. I just want to stop getting the spams in my regular INBOX. Please tell me how to shut down my site, period.
    Thanks.

Just delete all of the WordPress files and delete your WordPress database, or just cancel your hosting account if your WordPress blog is the only thing on it.

Or, if you don’t want to lose all of your hard work, activate the Akismet plugin in the Plugins section of your admin panel.

    James,
I can’t even see how to delete the files or the database, OR cancel my hosting account! Please walk me through it the way you would an idiot!
    Thanks,
    Max

Access your server via FTP or SFTP (get the connection details from your hosting provider) and delete the WordPress files. Then, find the MySQL database section in your hosting provider’s control panel and delete the WordPress database.

If you need more detailed instructions, contact your hosting provider.

If you want to cancel your hosting account, contact your hosting provider.
