    Hey guys,

    Hope all is well!

When running google’s pagespeed test, it tells me that I have a very large DOM tree (1100 elements).

Doing some research it seems like large DOM trees often comes down to the wordpress theme.

Thus, I was wondering if you know how this could be reduced?

    Hey Mattias!

Thank you for using Neve and for reaching out to us!

Regarding the large DOM tree with over a thousand elements, it’s true that the number of DOM elements can be influenced by the theme, but it’s also significantly affected by the content, plugins, and any customisations you have on the page.

I did some testing with a fresh instance of the theme, including some plugins for importing a starter site, imported one, and the number of elements resulted was approximatively 350. Adding a slider and a couple of additional plugins brought the DOM count up to about 600 elements.

Your current count of 1,100 elements isn’t excessive for a content-heavy page, it depends on what customisation you have currently on the page, the plugins installed and other details that depend on the way you have built your site. However, there are still ways to minimize the number of DOM elements. I recommend checking out articles and blogs that offer additional insights and optimisation tips for reducing DOM size.

Let me know if there is anything I can assist you with regarding our theme functionalities!

    Kind regards,
    Mara
