  • @omnitos You can use this guide for information and tips on deferring offscreen images. I’m not sure how other plugins/theme features operate when it comes to deferring images.

When using AMP lazy loading is automatically applied. From checking web.dev I can see your AMP URLs perform much better than your non AMP, with no improvement suggestions for deferring offscreen images.

Thanks, James. Btw I am seriously fed up from my website since it has almost every optimization present and not ranking in top stories. I have posted about it in every Forum of Google even tagged John Mueller and Google webmaster on Twitter got no replies. I talked to you about this at GFWP, New Delhi, India. I am not able to get the solution can you suggest something or someone? I am still using Amp and all other best practices are present. URL: omnitos.com

@omnitos With your AMP site performing well maybe you could go 100% AMP using standard mode. While I don’t think your theme supports desktop AMP you can check with the theme provider if you want your desktop AMP to look the same as non AMP.

Unfortunately I can only provide support for the plugin, but it sounds like you’ve already on track asking the experts on the webmaster forum.

standard mode has much fewer features and less AdSense support, so can’t use that.

Btw I have posted in forums more than 5 times, they always say they have no solution for this.

Being valid AMP is by no means a guarantee to appear in the Top Stories carousel on Google Search. It may currently be a precondition, but there are many ranking factors which only the search relations team (e.g. via the webmaster forum) can provide any public insights about.

In regards to deferring offscreen images in AMP, there may be a bug with the Lighthouse audit. See also https://github.com/ampproject/amphtml/issues/25682

@westonruter, of course, yes I know that, but I have done almost everything from schema to news approval, I have implemented every best practice and their criteria, even u can check. In the webmaster forum, most of the people there say it is algorithmic, a few only tell something valuable but the thing is everything is present, therefore most product experts say we can’t tell more, unfortunately, I have posted more than 5-10 times, it has been 2 years since news approval, have seen similar site ranking and not ranking which is a bug on the algorithms end…..

Sorry, I don’t have any special knowledge or additional advice for you.

Yeah, the things are there is a gap between publishers and experts to contact for support regarding any matter, even tagged John Mueller and Google Webmaster on Twitter several times, got no reply. I don’t know when will google care about every individual publisher.
I have seen many new sites even without AMP getting into google discover feed and top stories even now.
