i seem to be getting lots of user registrations on my site with emails ending .site and .top. Almost certainly they are planning some form of posting links in comments . this is more annoying than worrying especially as akismet spams most of them in any case.

    however

with wordfence, how can i stop multiple username creations? I’m guessing they would come from the same IP

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @the5krunner, thanks for reaching out to us.

The main protection against multiple spam registrations before Akismet has to get involved would be reCAPTCHA, which you can enable for your login/registration pages in Wordfence > Login Security > Settings. This should dramatically reduce the amount of unwanted registrations straight away.

It’s always good to check your Brute Force and Rate Limiting settings to make sure block lengths are long enough to stop persistent attacks retrying too soon, but you shouldn’t need to employ a manual IP blocking regime as this can be time-consuming from your side and Wordfence automatically takes care of known malicious user-agents, IPs etc.

I hope this helps you out!

    Peter.

reCAPTCHA seems to do the trick, thank you.
