    Hi All,

I want to get your ideas to reach best ways to store brands and model names.

    As far as i see;

There is no default brand option in woocommerce. It is very weird to me. How come we can sell without brand. What should i do for future proof working.
I don’t want to use one plugin then 2 years later no support issue.

Also there is only one place to store models. But we need many at least 4-5.

    Like below
    EAN
    Manufacturer code
Model name (Like Macbook Air 2020)

And i want to show model name in product pages.

    What do you suggest?

Use Custom Fields to pass that data. SKU can be used for EAN and or GTIN if you’re trying to pass Schema. You’ll have to fix structured data or at least add your own rather than use WooCommerce’s.

It’s not native to WC because auction sites and sites that sell other brands wasn’t something that was popular. Hopefully it’ll be added in the near future.

    Hi Stef,

Thanks for reply. Any suggestion for custom fields?

You’ll need a developer to get all that done if you’re unable to code. If you’re able to code let me know and I can guide you there a little. I have to see if I have any snippets lying around.

Here’s a great article on how to use Custom Fields. Schema is a different animal all together. Since WooCommerce already has the standard markup for Schema you will have to try and add the others to it.

I found that to be tough on one site I did and instead I had to shut Schema off for WooCommerce and write my own. So it all really depends on what you need etc, etc.

Google isn’t going to dock you if you don’t have an EAN and a Brand. So if that’s your worry, don’t. They’re just false positive warnings, not errors.

Helps if I leave the url

After a bit more searh, It seems best way for me to add attributes as a text.
So i can use that data for compare purpose too.

It seems wordpress doesn’t support that feature for a while.
