    Hi,
The official FB plugin by Facebook is not being supported anymore. I’d rather use yours since I’m concerned about using an abandoned plugin (although it still works)(and the only think I use is Comments)

    Can you tell me —

Is there a way to get all past FB Comments from the past few years from the official Facebook plugin over to this plugin?

What are the steps to transition from that plugin over to this one?

    Thanks!!!

  • Hi there,

Because Facebook Comments are connected by URL you should have access to all the previous comments regardless of what plugin you use. The plugin also has translation options.

Can you direct me to where the official plugin has notified users that support will stop? Thanks

    Hi Alex,

    That’s awesome.

There was never any official communication from them about stopping support, but the last resolved support thread was 10 months ago. Also, there are support threads like the following: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordpress-is-not-your-enemy-facebook-so-update-and-support-your-plugin

Actually it does say “The plugin is no longer officially supported by Facebook but is maintained by the developer community.” It’s been moved to Github. This means that regular folks who are not developers don’t get support since we have no clue what that even means.

Thanks and I’ll be switching over to you then.

Thanks, do let me know if it all works for you. Real shame about the lack of support there.
