• Hi All-

I run a blog at https://www.daverea.com/ using WordPress 2.6. The settings are configured to ping https://rpc.pingomatic.com/ on new posts, but I can’t ever find my posts (even with exact-phrase searches) on the pinged services.

    The codex states:
Certain web hosts - particularly free ones - disable the PHP functions used to alert update services. If your web host prevents pings, you should stop WordPress from attempting to ping and consider using the Feedburner Pingshot service.

How can I check to see if my host has disabled pinging? I looked through phpinfo(); and there was no mention of pings. Is there a way to test the ping manually? Are ping results logged anywhere?

    Thanks much,
    [medic]Dave
