• Hi!

    I created two sites.

    example.com and example.com/fr

How to set up and manage the settings so you can get data received to GA from both sites?

So far nothing I tried worked and I only got data from example.com or from none at all.

This plugin is great and compared to the rest of them is the easiest and most straightforward to use.

Hope you can advise me or point to a text that would explain.

    Thank you!

    IK

    Hi,

Just to understand it clearly: you want to track the traffic to example.com into a GA web property separated from another web property to be used for the traffic on example.com/fr?

    Hi Thomas,

yes, this would be good. Another option too would be great to know-how.

so to rephrase: how to set options:

    1. monitor traffic using your plugin for two sites (managed by multisite) example.com and example.com/fr as one property in GA?

    2. monitor traffic for two sites as two different properties in GA?

    ***

So far, if I insert same GT container ID for both sites, no activity reflected in GA.

If I set up second GA property and a second GT container for the second site example.com/fr, and use separate GT container IDs for different sites, activity gets reflected only for the main site example.com.; Yet not for example.com/fr. *** In-fact, GA shows that tracking Not Installed for the second property in such a case.

May be its something to do with the multisite permalink set-up of second website /fr? Nobody seems to be talking about this kind of a set up anywhere!

I will be ready to clarify any further info you may need Thomas and appreciate your resolution like rain in drought!

    Thanks!

    A quick update!

The ANALYTICS TAG is firing now – I checked in the DEBUG mode. It seems it needed time to authorize itself, as the GA container was brand new!

    BUT

So far I have a separate container for each site in GA and separate GT ID for each website.

and the REAL TIME REPORTING is not working for example.com/fr but general reporting is working.

The only issue left now is to work out why Real-time reports are not showing.

    ***

As for the question I raised – yes, different GT ID for a different website no matter what it seems.

Please correct me if I am wrong?

    Thanks!

    Hi Slonicom,

Just wondering if all is still working – and wanted to confirm how you set things up for multi-site.

We have 13 sites in a subfolder installation – and one GA account to track them.

Plan to set up 13 containers in GTM and segment traffic buy URL for each as the “all pages” for each sub folder site – then enable the plugin in each installation and put the appropriate GTM Container ID in each of the plugin instances.

Is this how your install is setup?

Thanks in advance for any comments!

    Hi Scott,

I might not clearly understand your goals.

You say “one GA account” – but you did not mention whether this is one GA web property or 13 separate GA web properties in your GA account?

If you intend to use 13 web properties I wouldn’t do that.
If I were you I would just create one web property and create 13 views inside for each subfolder.

Also: with this only one GTM container is required depending on how different setup do you want to use on each subfolder.

    Cheers,
    Thomas
