• Hello. I have a website for an app we’ve created. It has one linked image each to click for the iTunes download link and one for Android.

What is the best way to track how many clicks each image button gets?

Right now I have the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin installed. Each download image button links to a dummy page on the site which, via the plugin, 301 redirects to either the iTunes or Android link. This extra hop is instead of the buttons linking directly to the downloads themselves. I though this might be a way to track the links by seeing how many times the redirecting page shows up in Analytics, but it doesn’t seem to be working that way just yet.

Is there a better way to track my outbound clicks to download the apps? Thank you.

Bump – any thoughts on this? I could use some guidance. Thank you in advance. Perhaps having a button link to domainname.com/itunes-download which then redirects to a goo.gl/link which then goes to the iTunes download link (and same for Android). That way I could track the numbers of clicks from goo.gl directly, though having them in Google Analytics would be preferable.

As of yet, I don’t see these dummy redirect pages showing up in Google Analytics. I just want to be able to track the number of clicks to each button, even though they’re outbound to the iTunes or Google Play stores.
