• I’m trying to translate this to another language but it always shows the original English translation:

Now I see that also “An invitation to join the %s community.” is not translating.

I think all the text that is in a text box in the General Settings has a translation problem of not showing the translation:

    1. Text of email invitation subject line
    2. Main text of email invitation message
    3. Footer text of email invitation message (not editable by users)

And also where to translate the ALT “Sort column order ASC” in the “invite-anyone/sent-invites/” links when hovering above the links?

I used Loco Translate plugin for this.

zorrex, thank you very much for telling me about the Loco Translate.
I can start translating this plugin. ??

I have another plugin that Loco is not helping (It’s like it doesn’t want to be translatable). ??

since the text is customisable in the settings page, and in the invite page, it’s not translatable, since it might change, the code can’t guess what string is going to be there and create the translations for it in advance, as soon as you change anything in the text you would break the translation lookup.

jonmoore, you mean “Invite Anyone” or the other plugin I cannot translate?

    jomo

    (@jonathanmoorebcsorg)

    Invite Anyone…
this is the Invite Anyone forum.. and there would be no way to guess what your other plugin is..

    (@ymca)

Yea, but it’s working so far…
Also zorrex said it’s working for him and he didn’t posted about problems with that.

    jomo

    (@jonathanmoorebcsorg)

    Yes, yes, it will work.
It will work in the very specific and limited context that no-one presses save on the Invite Anyone, General Settings page and no-one customises invitation text.

    (@ymca)

    ??
So the only option for it to work properly is for the developer to make it translatable or if it’s a bug fix it?

    jomo

    (@jonathanmoorebcsorg)

If your user changes the text, they must write it in the right language or selection of languages.
It’s not the job of the plugin translation mechanism to translate user input text so it’s not a bug.

    Ahh…
Now I understand what you’re talking about.

    This one?

You have been invited by [username] to join the https://www.example.com community.

I don’t mind if the user changes this, but it needs to be in his default language.

    I mean:
Users’ site English > user change invite and writes it in French > new invite > return to default English (example text)?

Users’ site French > user change invite and writes it in English > new invite > return to default French (example text)?

    I understand.
Will there be an update or a fix that in every translation of po/mo file there will be a customisable text?

    jomo

    (@jonathanmoorebcsorg)

You can use tools like Loco Translate to update po/mo files

I have been able to translate all except:

You have been invited by %%INVITERNAME%% to join the %s community.

    Visit %%INVITERNAME%%’s profile at %%INVITERURL%%.

    and this one:

An invitation to join the %s community.
