How to Translate Verite Timeline

I need help!
I have created a timeline:
https://www.niutang.com/our-history/
The timeline is fed with information from a JSON file.
Now, if you select Chinese the timeline remains in English.
I tried to put the Chinese characters directly into the JSON file but they show up as question marks.
I’m using WPML to translate the site.
Any help would be much appreciated.
