How to turn off PingBacks in 1.5
-
Hi,
I am using WordPress 1.5 – I am new with WP and blogs in general – and I recently posted a text with some links in it and it took a very long time until the browser ended with an empty new form. Then I tested and wrote an article with 1 link to an amazon page and it took 3 minutes until the browser finished whatever it was doing.
The saving process itself is quickly done (I can see changes immediately after hitting the save button on my weblog – in another browser tab), but the “write post” page in the admin interface isn’t refreshing (displaying an empty form) and the browser indicates that it’s still doing something, if that post contained one or more links.
What exactly is WordPress doing? Is that ‘pinging back’? In another post I found this screenshot (https://www.ads-software.com/about/shots/1.2/advanced-post.png) from a WP 1.2 installation, and below the textarea is a checkbox “PingBack the URIs in this post” – I cannot find anything like this in my WP 1.5 installation.
I can see an “Allow Pings” checkbox but I believe this is just for receiving pings for the new article.
Can anybody help me with that, because I don’t really need this pingback feature. Is there a way to turn it off sitewide.
Thank you in advance.
