This issue is only pertaining to variable products.

For this product caegory https://52.66.185.77/product-category/beauty-and-wellness/makeup/lips I’ve got 3 attributes. Shades, colours and brand. While the shades will be visible to the customers to choose on the product page, the color and brand need to be hidden.

I can do this by editing the product > attributes > uncheck ‘used for variations’ and ‘visibility’. However, I’ve got 1000s of products and I need to uncheck and set visibility to 0 for some of them.

Can this be achieved by editing the csv? If yes, which column is that and do I need to add another column to make this work?

    Please advise.

  • Hi @scifice

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you would like to bulk-edit some attributes of the variable products on your site particularly these fields: Visible on the product page and Used for variations and you would like to know if it is possible to do it using the built-in Product CSV Importer and Exporter, correct?

For the Visible on the product page field, this can be edited via the built-in Product CSV Importer and Exporter. Please locate the column Attribute no visible and change it to 0 to disable it.

However, this method is not possible for the Used for variations field as there’s no column for it on the CSV file.

In this regard, you could check the premium plugin Bulk Edit Products, Prices, and Attributes that easily bulk edit any WooCommerce product fields and meta values.

Should you have further pre-sales inquiries about this plugin, please open a support request for us to address you more effectively.

Did you know that if you want to try our products, it comes with a 30-day refund policy? If the product doesn’t work the way you need it or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to offer a full refund. You can read more about our refund policy on our website here.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks @xue28 .

So does this mean that there is no conventional way to uncheck the ‘Used for variation’?

If there weren’t any plugin involved, is manually editing each and every product the only way to go?

    Please advise.

    Hello @scifice,

So does this mean that there is no conventional way to uncheck the ‘Used for variation’?

Re-importing products via a CSV file is conventional in my opinion. :?)

You can just bulk-edit the column below:

Just make sure to check this box when re-importing:

Also, in case it’s not mentioned the CSV importer is part of WooCommerce so you don’t need to install any plugins whatsoever.

For more context, please check this guide: https://woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the solution @babylon1999, but that option does not uncheck ‘used for variations’

Sorry to hear that didn’t help!

You can try checking the Bulk Edit Products, Prices, and Attributes extension on WooCommerce.com.

In the documentation, the author mentions something about bulk editing the Used for Visible on the product page so it might be what you’re looking for.

All extensions sold on WooCommerce.com have a 30-day refund policy and come with premium email support. If the product doesn’t work the way you need it or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to provide a full refund.
