Currently WooCommerce uses PhotoSwipe – v4.1.3 – 2019-01-08, which is obsolete. Is it possible update lightbox in WooCommerce to PhotoSwipe v5.4.2 to be up to date, and to be in sync with Lightbox with PhotoSwipe plugin, therefore provide consistent UX?

    Hi @randewoo

Upon checking, there is no updated version yet, and this was also reported in Update product gallery lightbox Photoswipe to 5.0 · Issue #29800 · woocommerce/woocommerce. However, there has been no update yet on when this will be implemented as the developers stated that updating the library would require significant effort on their part to ensure that they retain backward compatibility. The issue was closed due to low priority.

However, if you have any ideas that could improve the WooCommerce core plugin, feel free to submit an Enhancement request. We’ll do our best to address your concerns.

    Hi Darla!

Thank you for your answer. I understand prioritizing of WooCommerce development. For this moment it is techically possible to use one PhotoSwipe – v4.x for lightboxing WooCommerce product images and regular WordPress images by switching PhotoSwipe plugin to v. 4 mode.

However, since WordPress 6.4 anounced native lightboxing for Guttenberg image blocks maybe it is a time consider the same lightboxing library/funvtionality. It will defenetly make all images lightboxing unified.

Thanks for a Enchanement repo link.

    Good wishes!
