• Hi all,

I have Live wordpress sites download to local server. They are running locally similar to the former. However I couldn’t figure out how to update/upgrade the plugin/software upon request. On running one/two local site(s) a big red-mark displayed requesting to update the plugin. On clicking the mark the “Update Plugins” window popup.

    Hostname
    FTP Username
    FTP Password
    Connection Type – FTPS / FTPS(SSL)

Please shed me some light how to complete the details there? Thanks

    Hi Jesin A,

Are you planning to migrate your site from GoDaddy to your own server?

No. At least for the time being. I already paid one year subscription in advance.

What hosting solution are you using on GoDaddy?

    Share hosting.

    From the Tuts plus article

The version control tool must be installed in both your local and remote machines.

You cannot do this on a shared hosting package.

Can I run 2 VMs for this test? I perform all tests on VM. In case of failure I just delete the VM and clone another new VM to continue the test.

In another thought I only have ONE static IP. Is it possible to conduct this test? Several years ago I succeeded making one Static IP serving several email/web servers running on VM. IIRC I made use of Perdition. I have to dig the info from my database.

My ultimate interest is to setup a mirror on local server for my Live site hosted on Godaddy.

    Thanks

I assume you want to setup a WordPress site load balanced across two VMs in a test environment. Instead of using version control as described in that article, the HyperDB plugin can be used for database replication and configure lsyncd to synchronize uploads.

Yes you can, you need to configure the virtualization software to use NAT as the networking method.

Yes. That is the test planned by me. Thanks for your links. I’ll come back after the test.

My PC is behind router. Several year back I made a test using Perdition distributing mails to respective servers. IIRC, A VM ran MySQL solely for distributing. All servers were using same Static IP connected to outside world. It worked. Is there any alternative way? Pointer would be appreciated.

By the way is there a simply way converting the local site to Live? Rather than build a Live site on local server and export the local site to it. Thanks
