If the Child Theme is set up correctly, all you have to do is update the parent theme and your child theme will inherit those changes.

ok and how would i know that it was setup correctly, like is there a test i can do to check this? or should the 1.0.0 say 2.5.4?

Isn’t the version number just hardcoded inside your Child Theme style.css file?

i dont know it was a friend who did it for me and now im trying to understand this all

    Mrgem79,

If you click on themes in your admin. and you see the “virtue” theme what version does it say your on? Updating that is all you should have to do.

I just updated to 2.5.4 its just in system settings that my child theme is 1.0.0 and it says to update.

    Hey,
Is that “woocommerce > system settings”?

    Yes

OK, That means you have copied woocommerce template files and placed them into your child theme. I can’t guess why. But you have to either remove those files from the child theme or updated them to the latest version. I suggest contacting whoever added them to your child theme.

Ok so the child theme shouldnt have the woocommerce files? Im doing this all myself now and cant contact who did it.

    Hey,
Only the person who put those files into the child theme would know if they need to be there or not. If they added them for some reason you would need to update them for whatever purpose they were added for.

Unfortunately There is no way I can tell you if you should remove or not. I can tell you that they need to be updated or removed.

If i remove them from the child theme would this change anything or will it just recognise the original theme which is already updated? And is the file just called woo commerce thanks heaps

You can activate the parent theme just note that you will have to re set your menus.

I don’t know what the files are that your child theme is overriding. You would have to look and see. They would all be in the woocommerce folder though
