How To Upgrade wordpress from shell access

There’s a number of ways really.

Generally what I do is –

Fetch the source files with wget https://www.ads-software.com/latest.tar.gz
unzip to “wordpress” with tar -xzf latest.tar.gz
cd wordpress
copy -r * \path\to\my\web\files\

Then check through my web files for any old crud that might need removing.
