• Steve Stern on www.ads-software.com plugin forum, suggested that this plugin would let me highlight most recent blog post on my static front page. I see how Supercargo was using it, but I don’t want it in a sidebar.

How to I set up a space on the Home page that will feature the latest posting? Add all that code onto the page, I’m assuming? I see how you got posts before and after a certain date, but I’d like that date to be sort of rolling…grab the post for ‘today’s date’ or the one closest to it. How do I word that coding? (I’m a real techo-dummy, and code is definitely NOT my thing, so I need help explicitly spelled out.)

I’m using Happenstance theme, if that matters.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late response as it seems I missed the notification for this.

You can add the shortcode [recentposts-sc] in your “Latest Posts Page Widget Area” widget

It will display on the homepage. Screenshot for reference

Or you can create a static page, make it as default homepage and add the shortcode [recentposts-sc] there.

Thanks for answering…better late than never, as they say. It’s ok. Gave me time to play with the plugin, and see how it works. Pretty good, actually. It will easily accomplish what I want and looks nice. Kudos! My apologies for not grasping immediately how to use it.

I understand that there are some parameters that I can set in that same place, as delineated somewhere that I saw–where a downloaded the plugin, I think. Anyway, that was pretty clear and worked well.

I noted that the user can also determine the size of the image. Curently, it seems that if the plugin doesn’t find an image attached to the post, it places a sort of generic icon. I rarely have images attached to my blog posts. Is there a way to alter that default, so that it just eliminates the image placeholder altogether? Even if I had an image, it wouldn’t need to appear in this place, which is just to catch the reader’s attention.

And if that requires messing about in the actual plugin’s code, be really specific where to find it. (If it’s too complicated, don’t worry….I won’t be up to trying it)

Thank you for your assistance, and for a good plugin.
