In Ascend I use two sidebars. Primary and one I call Sidebar2, a custom sidebar.

On my site I use – or intend to use when settled in so to say, One sidebar – Primary sidebar – dedicated only for my blog. And one Sidebar2, for my other pages with Text and images.

But I also need to disable sidebar2 on Pages with Galleries, where I intend to have entirely images, because those are my “portfolio” pages. That is, not the feature of portfolio pages, but pages with my image galleries.

I tried to solve this by using Portfolio pages. But those Portfolio/project pages seem to only allow a minimum of one column pages. Which makes it impossible to use for full width gallery portfolio pages.

Ive tried a few days now trying to figure this out, to no avail.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

    Hey,

You can turn off the sidebar in your portfolio archive by going to the “Edit Page” screen for your portfolio, and setting the display sidebat to no.

For individual portfolio posts, sidebar controls can be found in Theme Options> portfolio settings.

    Does that help?

    Hi Kevin,

It came like this, when setting Display sidebar to no – I am using Gutenberg also.

But I need my image galleries “Portfolio” look lke this

(Ps. the dark block “Portraits” will be changed to white or another colour)

Alright, so the space to the left of your images is where you would normally display your portfolio project. This would be the content you create with “project options” and the images you add to the gallery below, or whatever you choose.

The portfolio posts are designed for you to add the gallery here, and then your content in the main editor would display however you set the project layout.

You’re not using that, so in the portfolio options, set “project layout” to above, and it will just show the content fullwidth.

Let me know if that works for you.

You can set your default to project layout to above in Theme Options> Portfolio Settings, “Single Portfolio Content Settings.”

    It didnt work

    Looks the same

Funny, the setting “Above” didnt stick.
I wonder if Gutenberg can be the problem maker here. I will deactivate now and see what happens. Back in a few mins

Instead of using the blocks gallery, add your images to the project options gallery.

The Gutenberg gallery is really bad and will slow your site down significantly.

Okey, Gutenberg is the problem maker. As soon as I deactivated Gutenberg, I was able to get “Above” to stick and work.

    Not good

    Kevin,

I tried the “images in Project options gallery” , which Ben looked at in here earlier, but that didnt work either. Because by using Gutenberg – which I have started to use, the settings doesnt work. As soon as I hit Publish, and look at the settings, they are all unselected.

Here is the link to that topic, which is similar https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/ascende-project-page-portfolio-dont-work/

This clearly is a problem connected with gutenberg. As far as I can see it.

Now, if I look at tryiing to use varius sidebar to tighten the alignment of text in pages, they are all Fullwidth today. Simply because I have my image galleries (set up like a Portfolio of images – Not Your portfolio page feature) set up on pages also. And I dont fanncy having image galleries shown on pages with sidebars. I like that bold effect.

You can see how my text goes fullwidth here: Link

    And image galleries here (Pages)

I’m not sure about the problem being with Gutenberg. I was testing with it when I made the recommendation above, so it’s working with my site.

did you see Ben’s latest post in the other thread? Looks like he may have identified the culprit.
