• Please could you help. There are pages on my website that I do not want. They have been published. I am saving them as draft and then doing a redirection to a different url. Is this the right way to do this. Can I just delete a page? If I save it to draft does that mean Google will no longer index the page. However as the page was once published does Google still have a record of the index page. Thus if I use the same content with a different url will I have duplicate content on the website. Please help me with this. Many thanks Jason

Yes and yes. Deleting the page would be essentially the same SEO-wise as setting them to draft status. If you’re sure you never want to republish them, of course.

If you’re setting up redirects from the old page to the new page as stated in your post, you shouldn’t need to worry about having duplicate content, Google catches up pretty quickly. You also get the bonus of any backlinks made to your previous page still working.
