• Love the theme but am wondering if I can use the excerpt section in the posts page. Tried it but it didn’t work, instead the excerpt appears on the single post under the title which I hope I can remove too.

Right now putting in the more tag works but it’s not ideal as I would like to control what text displays on the posts page.

I know a tiny bit of coding so perhaps someone can guide me on how to do this if indeed this is possible.

    thanks heaps!

    Hey @dayleedreamer,

    thanks for choosing Bento!

The excerpts do not appear on the native blog posts page, but you can indeed use the “more” tag to control how much text is being displayed in the blog – could you please expand on why it’s not a suitable solution for you? Perhaps we can find a way to tweak it so that it fits your expectations ??

    Cheers,

    Hey Andrii

Thanks for replying. The reason why the <!–more–> tag is not ideal for me is because I can’t really control what text gets displayed at the posts page. The tag only outputs text from the top of the post until the point where the tag is inserted.

I would like to customize what gets displayed at the posts page and the_excerpt() function seems to be the perfect solution for me. I think some themes are able to do that. ??

Thanks, @dayleedreamer! This does make sense, we’ll add this feature to version 1.7.6 of the theme (the current live version is 1.7.3, but we’ve submitted two more increments already which are still in the queue).

    Sincerely,

I have version 1.7.6 installed and i am looking for the posts excerpt feature.
Where did you hide the feature?

Hey @peerv, in case you don’t see the “excerpt” field in the post edit view, please open the “Screen Options” tab in the top right corner of the screen and tick the respective item in the slide-down section. This is a core WP feature and can’t really be controlled by a theme, I’ve no idea why it’s sometimes hidden by default on some versions of WP installations ??
