• I would like to display a widget with posts with a particular category using the Mini Loops plugin.

I know there are fields for Category and Tag, however, when I enter one of my categories, “Tutorial” (without the quotes”) in the field, it returns ALL posts.

I’m sure this is a very basic question – just can’t figure it out. Thanks for any info.

  • You’ll need to use the category ID instead of the name.

You can get the ID by examining the URL for editing a category.
On the Categories page of the admin, mouse over ‘Edit’ and look for tag_ID=#in the URL, that number will be the ID you need. Screenshot: https://cl.ly/GelT

To exclude a category, just list that ID as a negative number.

Hi – thanks for your reply. I used the plugin Category Posts Widget instead and got it to do what I wanted. It uses a drop-down menu to select a category. I think mini loops must be very powerful in other areas. I was just interested in the simple postings by category so that plugin did the trick. Thanks.

I know using IDs isn’t optimal, but it’s the simplest way to accept multiple IDs

Glad you found a solution though! The best plugin is always the one that works for you ??

Yes – I don’t think Category Posts allows multiple categories. thanks again for your reply!
