how to use only 1 post/image in the slider

Thanks so much for your reply. However, the problem is when I try to add only 1 slide the entire slider disappears. I have to put at least 2 slides for the slider to appear and work properly. Is there a way around this?

There is no such limit actually. It is possibly a theme or plugin conflict or something like that. I highly recommend debug the page by following this guide:
