• Hi there,
maybe this is not a new topic, but I can’t find a useful answer. I might use the wrong search terms. Anyhow:

I’d like to use my own images for thumbnails and other formats. Meaning stopping WordPress to use the system generated image versions. Reason is that as a commercial photographer I need to show clean and crisp images. No automatic online tool will be able to do that as well as Photoshop does. And wordpress does a very bad job for specific images, e.g. fabric patterns.

Yes it’s oldschool thinking, but there’s no better solution in my small minded head. My coding experience is let’s say middle-good – once I have a guideline I can dive into it and figure things out.

Any suggestions, advice is highly appreciated!

    Many thanks,
    nerinho

  • If you are inserting an image into a Page or Post, you have the option to use the full size image. But if you are talking about images that show in various places throughout your theme, then there is a probably code in your theme that is telling WordPress to use a specific image size generated by WordPress. A web developer can edit your theme so that it doesn’t do this, but they’ll have to find and edit the code related to each and every position where images are inserted into your theme.
