How to use Permalinks without /index.php

Can anyone help with this?

I changed the permanent links to /%postname%/ and it’s working
webhost4life.org
I’m using Linux server

hey i tried the postname and it just doesnt work for me. i get a 404
This is fix would be exactly what i need but it doesnt work
is there any mod re write stuff i should do as well
or update of cache or something

If your permalinks don’t work without index.php in them (known as “Almost Pretty” permalinks) then you may need to work with your host.

ok chris after reading through that i wonder is there just a simple way of turning almost pretty permalinks to prety permalinks…
i am sure there probably isn’t as this wouldnt be such a problem that people stumble on if there was.
