How to use shortcode for showing the date

    I got this to work on my site by telling it what format I wanted the date shown in:

    [upcoming show_date='true' date_format='F j, Y']

    It this displays as February 17, 2013: Linked Post Title

    May I ask exactly where in the loop ‘[upcoming show_date=’true’ date_format=’F j, Y’]’ would go? WP novice here.
