Is there a guide how to use the Table of Contents block?

If I insert it, it tells me “Add a heading to begin generating the table of contents”

Doesn’t it fill itself with the headings on the page?

How do I add a heading? It’s not possible to type anything in.

    Thank you.

Is it right that it doesn′t work with existing pages? Only with new pages? You have to put the block in first and then it fills with headlines while I type them?

I need something for existing blog posts. So it’s better to use a plugin like LuckyWP Table of Contents or Easy Table of Contents?

Workaround for existing posts: Cut the existing content. Place TOC block. Paste back the content. TOC is filled with all headlines.

HI @pixx ! Our Table of Contents block is intended to work with the core heading blocks available in the block editor and various equivalents available in Ultimate Blocks and other third-party plugins. If the existing post isn’t made with the block editor, our table of contents block won’t be able to detect the content, so your workaround is exactly what we’d recommend to anyone else who’d experience this issue.

Marking it resolved since a work around was mentioned.
