Unfortunate, as a WordPress content creator for 10 years, I have no clue how to use nor where is this tool presented in the dashboard? There is nothing in the FAQ, Installation that show how to use, thumbs down.

The plugin works automatically in the background when you upload files to the WordPress media library. There are settings under Settings > Media for which files you want to clean when uploaded. You can see this in the screenshot here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/clean-image-filenames/

This plugin does not work on existing files in the media library, only new uploaded files. This is explained in the FAQ section on the plugin page, but maybe you missed that.

Thank you Gesen for your assistance. Unfortunately there is no mention of this anywhere.
I need a script that will scan and remove unused media.

You will need to find some other plugin for scanning for unused media files. This plugin does not do that. It just cleans the filenames for unwanted characters in uploaded files.

@wireb just to give a little hint:

The media library of WordPress itself shows – and even lets you filter – for files that are “unattached” (unused).

You need to go to the list mode instead of the grid mode (icons just below the title “Media Library” to switch mode)

Be careful though, some themes, plugins or page builder might not correctly “attach” images and they appear as “unattached” although they are used on the site somewhere.
