• I want to upgrade from WP 2.2 to WP 2.2.1. I have backed up my MySQL database. How do I verify the backup? I tried importing the backup into another database but kept getting error messages (Message: Access denied for user ‘%s’@’%s’ to database ‘%s’).

Is there a way to verify the backup was done correctly?

  • No. Not really.

    and there’s no reason to.

the message you are seeing is a permission error, it has nothing to do with the integrity of the backup.

Thanks for that response, whooami. But once again, a helpful response to one of my queries demonstrates that I did a horrible job stating the issue! So let me clarify.

I figured the error message was a permission error and had nothing to do with the integrity of the backup.

But it prevents me from doing what I want to do, which is to do a “restore database” procedure so I can see that it works.

I don’t understand why you would say that “there is no reason to” verify the backup. If my settings are wrong when I did the export so that the database cannot be restored, I’d sure like to know that before I have to do an actual restore to replace a corrupterd database. Am I missing something?

    Thanks.
