How to work with filters?

Hi,
I don’t understand how I can activate additional filters. I watched your Video about Bowe Codes 2.0 but still I didn’ get it.
In the video you activate the filters in the functions.php of the twentyeleven theme. I use the Origamiez theme (not standard) with a child theme (for custom css). There are no Bowe Codes filters in the functions.php of the Origamiez theme. How can I get access to all your available filters and make them work?
