    Hi there,
Since wordpress update to 5.5 I can’t customize my individual widget areas any more.
Each blog-post and each page has an individual widget area in primary sidebar.
To create these areas I’m using this plugin (Content Aware Sidebars).

I still can create a new area with the plugin and define where to display it, but can’t find it in customizer. It seems to be only 1 option: Using the original primary sidebar (that I have for my front-page).

    Question:

How can I manage to use the plugin now within these “widget blocks”? Or is there a way to get back the classic widget-customizing?

    Thank you for your answers!!!

    Kind regards,

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Any helpful suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem. I can see my widgets on the website but when I want to change the text I can’t find them under Widgets in the dashboard.
And very odd I sometimes see them when I click Widgets but usually not.

Help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

I could solve the problem by restoring a backup version of my site. I don’t know where this “widget blocks” came from.
Now – with all plugins still active and with newest wordpress – the original “widgets”-customize-feature is there again.
Strange. Luckily I have a test-site parallel and I saw that the original desired version is there.
I could not find out what has caused the changing, but now – with restoring – it is fine!

    @blokhut
I hope this can help you as well. I will set this tread to “solved”.

    Worked fine thanks @dancer.

Apologies for the delayed response here and I am glad you got the problem resolved. Very awesome to see CAS users help each other ??

I wanted to chime in and clarify that Widget Blocks is not part of WP5.5, but is an experimental feature in the Gutenberg plugin and scheduled to be included in WP5.6. I have been trying to monitor the widgets -> blocks migration for a while now, but unfortunately there haven’t been a clear roadmap or API for it.

It is the plan for CAS to fully support this once it becomes an official part of WP.
