How will tags affect the template hierarchy?

  • Can anyone who’s used 2.3 speak on the subject of tags and how they will affect the template hierarchy?

    Will we be able to specify templates for particular tags, just like we currently do for categories? Will a tag template replace the category template, will they co-exist somehow? etc., etc.

    Yes, you will be able to have tag templates. Much like category templates are “category-42.php”, tag templates will be “tag-42.php”. There is also a generic “tag.php” just like there’s a generic “category.php” file.
