• Hi,

Is there any particular way I should choose category names and slugs in order to be found easily be the search engines ?

For instance, would an article be found easier by a SE if it was in webdesign > HTML then when it would be in development > HTML ???

    Regards,

  • Change the permalinks to %postname% and leave the categories as are (they are already search engine friendly). Use keywords for post names and categories. Hope that helps though I think you’re asking a question of order? please explain more if you need more help. ??

Thanks for you reply shimon …. Yes the order I also would like to know about … Lets say that if I have a category for apples and a post called banana is yellow:

    It would be https://www.blog.com/apples/banana-is-yellow

So , if a user looks for is yellow in google, will the find my post ? or does it have to be apples banana is yellow in google ?

Or does the postname have to be before the category name to be findable ? And also, what if the user searches only for apples ?

Usually, for seo purposes, I go with just the postname (for a single post) without the category. I believe and have read that this is the best way to go. Leaving the category in there is ok too for seo. The category should come first if you leave it in. They will find it if they search for it. However, the reason I would go with just postname is because if they search for the category, they will find your category page anyhow, and that will have the relevant posts as well.

You can’t go wrong with %postname% alone. Hope this helps.
