• We’d love to get your feedback on our WordPress powered site:

As you can tell, we make cute trendy baby blankets and needed a place to show them online. It’s a custom theme and a fair bit of custom code to power the products themselves. Hopefully it’ll provide some inspiration for anyone working on a non-blog WordPress site.

    What do you think?

  • I think it looks great! Great styling of the site!

I’m working on a non blog site myself, how do you create a home page that doesn’t show the “no recent comments” stuff…?

    Rob,

Nice work! Although I am fully aware of the capabilities of WP to power a site like this, I would never have guessed it was created with WP. Looks very professional without any blog-iness to it.

Indeed an inspiration to anyone looking to create a non-blog WordPress site.

    Thanks guys.

@wp-corne: The home page (and most of the pages on the site) are actually just static pages rather than posts. We are only using “posts” on the press and testimonials pages:

You’ll notice that those two pages look a little more like a traditional WP powered site.

Thanks again for the good feedback.

Looks pretty slick. I have some eCommerce sites planned and what you are doing would fit my concepts (although the products are completely different). Congratulations.

Absolutely adorable! Love the colors and especially love the tags at the top. Congrats!

Rob, this looks great! I’m really new to WordPress and currently am building a site for someone using it. In addition to her blog section she wants a few static pages. Where do you put them on the site? I tried putting it in the theme folder as well as in the root and when I navigate to it, it just says Not Found. Any tips would be great – or if you can point me to a tutorial that explains it…..

    Thanks!
    Jen

Cute baby!!! Love the website. Looks like a shopping website and not a blog. Well done. ~ R

Great job, this is really well done.

    Gorgeous! Really great-looking, fresh, light.

How were you able to use your own header and own navigation? Does it take extensive programming knowledge? I know HTML and CSS, but I’ve just had my first glimpse at PHP. Thanks!

Congratulations, it’s a great looking website – not blog-like at all! I’m new to all of this (I’m currently designing my first site) but the more I learn about wordpress, the more I like it! There’s not much you can’t do with it if you use your imagination, as you clearly have!

Petitshoo: If you start a new thread in a relevant section and post a link to your site, along with a description of what you’re trying to achieve, you’ll probably get some helpful advice:-)
