• I am thinking of using wordpress to give students a feel for operating a CMS based site by giving them their own installation of WP

My question is how would I go about securing a wp installation so that its frozen at a point in time so I don’t have an ever increasing number of wordpress installations to upgrade.

Is there a checklist I could follow?

  • WordPress MU might be better suited for what you need.

Not sure regarding your question though, sorry..

The problem with MU is that it doesn’t let users install their own extensions or themes.

I want the users to be able to try that but really don’t want to have to patch each installation. I would prefer if I can either inside wordpress or via hosting software like cPanel to reduce the risk of something going wrong down the road

I have the same question. How can I freeze a WordPress Blog (Closed Comments, no Pingbacks, no Admin Aceess, just the front end).
