I am brand new to WordPress and finally got my site up and running an adding posts/recipes. I got an email from the Google Search Console saying I had some issues. The Google Structured Data Testing Tool shows the following: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool#url=https%3A%2F%2Finthekitchenwithmatt.com%2Famazing-cinnamon-rolls%2F

    Recipe 1 warning
hrecipe 1 ERROR 6 Warnings. The error says “fn A value for the fn field is required.”

I haven’t a clue what that is. As far as I know I filled out the WP Recipe Maker card correctly.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks so much.

*I checked and all my recipe posts have that ERROR and warnings. ??

If you check Google Search Console you’ll see that there is both “Recipe” and “hrecipe” metadata.

The “Recipe” metadata is coming from WP Recipe Maker and does not have any errors (just a warning because the recipe doesn’t have a video). The “hrecipe” metadata is the one causing all the problems.

I’m not sure where that’s coming from. Could be part of your theme or another plugin. Do you have any other metadata related plugins activated?

Hi there Brecht! Thanks for responding. I am using this theme https://www.wpzoom.com/themes/cookely/ And the theme came with a plugin called “recipe Card Blocks” it is activated, but I don’t use it. I didn’t like the look of it compared to WP Recipe Maker.

You’ll want to check with them if it’s possible to disable the hrecipe metadata they are including. WP Recipe Maker should be the only one taking care of the recipe metadata.

Ok I will check in with them. Thanks! ?? Would that error cause my recipes to not show up in search? I typed in the title of my recipe and scrolled through like 25 plus pages and still couldn’t find my post.
