This happens when I have not had Any activity in the webspace ie I have not uploaded anything new… the most recent was this morning ( website was working fine yesterday.

I am running 3.01 wp… I have no idea why this keeps happeing are there any steps I can Tka to avoid this recurrence.

When I rectify this and can get into my WP Admin I will investigate to see if there are any unauthorised users in Admin.

Check your plugins, but also, consider changing all your passwords on your server. It’s probably not a WordPress admin who’s doing it, but someone with access to your SSH/FTP account.

    What’s IN the .htaccess?

I have done what you suggested and recovered site after deleting the file which was in every folder on the site. The .htaccess denies permission for entry to the siteentry to the site.
No -one should have access to the site except me.

I’m not sure how I prevent this from re-occuring. Any suggestions?
