htaccess error on wordpress.com

    When saving settings on our wordpress.com site your plugin tells us to modify our htaccess file with specific rewrite rules. It looks like wordpress.com doesn’t use apache and thus doesn’t use htaccess files. Does this mean your plugin isn’t compatible with wordpress.com ? My client says the plugin seems to be working fine – they are just interested in understanding this error message further.
