• Hi,

I installed wordpress 2.0.2 and then changed my permalink options.

Then the message at the top says to “update your htaccess file now”

I then realised that there was no .htaccess file created (I read somewhere that this should have been created on the top level of the blog with version 2, but for 2 reasons, may not be eg some webhosts don’t allow this).

So I looked up the wordpress documentation and it said to make a .htaccess file, and I did so using a blank notepad doc, and uploaded it.

Then when I made the changes to my permaklink options, it said “your permalink options have been pdated” So it seemed to have worked.

I then set the CHMODD option back to 644.

Have I done the right thing?

I am new to this .htaccess issue, and have rarely used it in the past!

    Thanks!

  • If the internal links work well – then yes, you did the right thing and in the right way ??
Check every link: click on posts titles, catgeory names, monthly archives etc.
