    Hello,

I have installed W3TC using WPCLI on Nginx.

Found that it has created a .htaccess file which contains W3TC Browser Cache directives.

Why and how is an .htaccess file created in Nginx?

    Regards,
    Ed

    Hello @eddyferns

Thank you for your inquiry and I am happy to assist you with this.
This depends on your hosting environment. If you are on Apache+Nginx, there is a possibility that some files are being handled by Nginx and some by apache.
W3 Total Cache detects the environment setup and adding the rules to existing .htaccess/nginx-conf, and creating additional .htaccess if needed in cache/ folder to handle the rewrite rules depending on the configuration. On the plain Nginx environment, there should not be any .htaccess files as they have no purpose.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.

There is no Apache at all. It is only Nginx and no other server.

So on a plain Nginx environment W3TC did create the .htaccess file.

The location of the .htaccess file is /var/www/site.com/public_html.

Is it possible to share the website URL by email?

    Thanks.
