I downloaded and installed 2.1.3 this morning and the .htaccess file seems to be missing from both the zip and the tar.gz versions of the download. To correct it I just copied it out of the old version. Anyone else have this issue?

Is there ever an htaccess file in the archive? I thought it was generated automatically (or it automatically adds the necessary rules to your existing file if you have one).

The download has never come with an .htaccess. WP or user always creates it.

In my case it did not seem to make it properly, as after the upgrade it did not exist and features such as feeds did not work properly. As I said I used the one from a prior installation and things are working. Just figured I would check.

logicalstack: Go to Options->Permalinks and rebuild your permalinks. This causes it to regenerate the correct .htaccess file for your setup.

I use one.com for hosting I have placed all my WordPress files below /blog. If I access my site with https://www.mysite.dk/blog everything works.
This I go to settings and change the root to “” instead og /blog/. I copy the index file to / and edit it as needed, but I don’t have any .htaccess file in /blog. I have a default one.com one in /.
Options->Permations rebuild doesn’t make me a new .htaccess file. Any clue?
