• Any help is appreciated here… This is the url https://www.mj-roofs.be

Permalinks were set to https://www.mj-roofs.be//%postname%/ and all worked fine until it suddenly stopped working. I get 404 on all pages, except the homepage. I have tried altering the permalinks, but it says my .htaccess is not writable. I have manually changed .htaccess, but that didn’t help. I have tried altering the permissions, but it STILL says it’s not writable. I have disabled all plugins. I deleted old plugins. But nothing helps.

Host says mod_rewrite is enabled. I really don’t know what else to do…

    Help!

  • Is .htaccess writeable by your user account but not the user account under which the web server is running?

Have you asked your hosts to check if you have a file ownership problem?

Yes this has been checked and all is ok.

I’m running wp in its own subdirectory, maybe this is also important information.

It shouldn’t be. I’ve run many sites from sub-folders and have never hit a problems with .htaccess write permissions at root. Since you say that this suddenly changed, it has to be something that changed at your hosts’ end. Have you asked them what changes were made to the server recently?
