Previously, a copy of .htaccess was created under the name htaccess.orig but nowadays it no longer exists and the old one disappears from both the old server and the new one?

  • Hey @patrikhax,

The workflow has changed slightly to help prevent issues on some hosts. When the package is built the original .htaccess will always be in the archive.zip file with an appended hash such as .htaccess__[hash] this would be the .htaccess.orig you’re used to seeing.

After step 1 of the installer is done running you can view the .htaccess__[hash] up until its renamed and update to .htaccess on step 4.

    Hope that helps~

Now that I have moved a new site I find the old version as a link to .htaccess in step 4.

But where can I find it for the site I already moved and where I no longer find .htaccess where I found it before you redo it?

Have unzipped the file on my computer but can’t find the file there either?

    Hey @patrikhax,

It should be in the zip file, unless either there was a filter added or possibly an issue with permissions on copying it into the zip, which is very uncommon.

Thanks for the quick reply! ??

Should it be in the first steps when opening the folder? ??

    Hey @patrikhax,

Typically on most sites, the .htaccess file is stored at the root of the WP site. When a package is built it adds the .htaccess to the archive.zip file with something such as .htaccess_[hash].

So inside of the archive.zip you should see something like .htaccess_[some_hash]. Are you not seeing that inside of the archive.zip file?

    Thxs~

Unfortunately i se no one except in step 4 when comparing. ??

    Hey @patrikhax,

I’m not sure if it’s not in the archive.zip then there could have been problems when the package was built which is very rare…
