.htaccess permission change from 404 to 644

  • I currently use this along with Bulletproof. In bulletproof I change the permission on .htaccess to 404 as recommended. When I look at Better Wp the dashboard shows “Better WP Security is allowed to write to wp-config.php and .htaccess.” but under System Info it says: “neither of these are writeable”.

    When I log back in often the .htaccess has changed from 404 to 644. Is the Better WP plugin changing this?

    I would like to have the permission for wp-config.php on 600 but the Better WP plugin changing this to 644 all the time.
