When you use the HTML blocks, after saving, closing, and reopening the post/page, the HTML block is changed into the HTML error block, and ask for recovery while it is intentionally put the partial html code which may be considered as error as it is the only part of the valid HMTL.

The point is HTML blocks should be remain as is, not being changed to something else. Or having the settings for this kind of automatic HTML block error detection would be nicer to UX.

Considering the fact that what you have saved is not remained like what you have saved, and when you want to edit you need to press “…” > change to HTML every single block of HTML would be hard to use.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for reporting.

The option to turn off the automatic validation that is done in HTML blocks (this validation is done when the post is saved or published) has been reported and acknowledged in the Gutenberg bug tracker.

There is a 2nd issue in the Gutenberg issue tracker that describes how Gutenberg assumes that the HTML inside the block should be valid and will sometimes mark it as invalid if it has already been saved. https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/15794

As long as you do not attempt recovery, the original content is not altered. But what you do see is not helpful when it’s applied to purposeful changes. For the most part, you should not alter the HTML tags used in blocks. If you need specific, non-standard attributes in HTML tags, you should be using the Custom HTML block for that.

    Thank you for your replies.

IMO, only a mark with ! would be enough to show the errors.
Anyway, I will try checking Custom HTML. Or, waiting if the option to turn off will be available.
    Thank you two again.
