• I am new to word press but I have a question.

Is it a good practice to use html codes for single-quotes, double-quotes, ampersands, etc. inside the post or simply use the actual keyboard characters?

I am curious how WordPress handles embedded html codes inside the posts during database upgrades and conversions.

  • Use the actual keyboard character. WP does the encoding conversion for you.

    Ok.

What happens if there are html codes that get pasted into a post? Do they create problems? Display in a weird way? Do you know how they convert if the database gets upgraded from one version to the next?

    Thanks “esmi”.

Pre-encoded characters aren’t touched and are stored in the database “as is”. They shouldn’t be affected by any database upgrades.
